Protocol Records Online

Protocol Records was founded in 1996 by independent musician and producer Brian Larsen. The label was originally created as the host of Larsen's band, Twilight's Moon, but quickly expanded to become a widely recognized, internationally distributed label with six RIAA sales awards and more than 4,000,000 downloads to its artist's credit.

During its first five years, Protocol Records saw the release of five albums and eleven singles from Twilight's Moon. After the hugely successful release of Twilight's Moon's "Emergency Exit" album in 2001, Brian Larsen opened the label to unsolicited submissions, bringing in undiscovered talent from a worldwide audience. During the next year, Protocol signed seven new artists and released a total of nine additional albums. In 2003, Brian Larsen obtained international distribution for all of Protocol Records' catalogue and further expanded the label by offering online royalty payments directly to artists. Teaming with Discmakers, Protocol was further able to offer in house recording, mixing, mastering, post-production, and replication for all of its artists projects.

Now, with the constantly changing face of independent music, Protocol Records has cemented itself as a force capable of using guerilla marketing, digital and in-print promotion, extensive and lucrative booking deals, and massive fan-based street teams to create successful and profitable careers for all of its artists.
